How is my booking confirmed?

Your website enquiry is free and does not reserve a place or take payment. Afranza sends a written USD proposal covering dates, activities, pickup, inclusions, exclusions and the total for your group. Your booking is confirmed when you accept the proposal, pay the agreed deposit and receive written confirmation from Afranza.

Deposits and balance

For day tours, the standard deposit is 20%, with the balance due at pickup unless a different schedule is agreed in writing. For activity packages, the standard deposit is 30%, with the balance due 48 hours before the first activity. For bookings made within 48 hours of departure, payment arrangements are confirmed before acceptance. Transfers and hotel requests receive their own written payment terms.

Pay only using the official instructions supplied by Afranza. A supplier requiring a larger advance or a non-refundable reservation must be identified, with the amount and conditions agreed before you pay.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel a day tour at least 24 hours before its confirmed start, or an activity package at least 7 days before its first activity, for a refund of payments received, less only any non-recoverable supplier costs specifically disclosed and accepted before payment. Cutoffs use Zanzibar time (East Africa Time, UTC+3).

For later cancellations or no-shows, the deposit is non-refundable. Any balance already paid for services that can be cancelled without cost is refunded; additional supplier deductions apply only where their cancellation terms were agreed in advance. Tell us as soon as possible if you need a date change: it is subject to availability and any previously disclosed supplier costs.

Approved refunds are normally initiated within 7 business days. Your bank or payment provider may take longer to complete them. Contact info@afranza.com with your booking reference to request a cancellation.

Weather, tides and operator changes

Safety comes first. Boat routes, sandbank visits, swimming and departure times depend on conditions. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. If Afranza cancels an activity because it cannot safely operate, choose an available replacement date or a refund for the unused cancelled service. Any substitute activity must be agreed with you. A personal decision not to join an operating tour follows the cancellation rules above.

Children and activity safety

Children under 18 receive a quote based on their age and the activities selected; infants are not automatically free. Tell us every child’s age when enquiring. Children must travel with an adult, and supplier minimum ages, swimming requirements and safety restrictions apply. Quad bikes and water sports may have stricter age and participation rules, confirmed before booking.

Pickup, lunch and accommodation

Displayed Zanzibar tour and activity-package guide prices include pickup anywhere on Zanzibar and return to the same agreed point. Packages include this service on each activity day. Confirm your hotel or meeting point and pickup time before departure. Airport transfers outside activity days are a separate service unless expressly included.

Full-day activities include a local food or seafood lunch. Half-day meals, restaurant orders and drinks are included only when listed. Tell us about dietary needs before booking so availability can be checked. Activity-package prices exclude accommodation; hotels are available on request with a separate quote and terms.

What should I check before paying?

Check the named activities, shared or private boat arrangement, pickup and return, entry fees, meals, your party’s total price and any supplier exceptions. Private Mnemba boat options do not include access to privately owned Mnemba Island. Ask us to clarify anything that is missing from your proposal.
